About Salem's lecture topic -

Salem read pieces from Burn Century (a fictive performative writing about 3 Chicago disasters):

Burn Century:

about 1919 race riots following the death of Eugene Williams, black boy

about 1969 betrayal and murder of Fred Hampton

about a man beaten and set on fire and a street overturned

Salem gave her talk during the rinse cycle. A question and answer period followed during the dry cycle.
